Ohio Petting Zoos

There are few ways to garner the attention of children more than showing them adorable animals. They instantly perk up and start to go on and on about what their favorite animal is. So if you thought showing them an image of adorable animals was a great idea, then just imagine how excited they get over being able to see the animals in person--and better yet, being able to pet them. A petting zoo is a great activity for children, and in fact, it is a great activity for people of all ages. By planning a trip to a petting zoo, you are guaranteed to both show a great time to everyone in your party, but also have a great time yourself as well!

Petting zoos come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They are typically, but not always, on a large plot of land with a barn, where the animals are sometimes allowed to roam around the premises. Petting zoos typically have cows and calves, pigs and piglets, ducks and ducklings, chicks and chickens, sheep, goats, and even ponies! The variety can really take off after that though. Some petting zoos have exotic animals like snakes, lizards, frogs, and parrots. Others have animals rarely seen by children such as zebras, ostriches, emus, alpacas, and llamas. All of which can be a complete delight to children. Some petting zoos also have puppies and kittens, which can sometimes be just as exciting to children as seeing an animal that they're not familiar with.

Perhaps you're looking to host an event or party at the petting zoo. Luckily for you, most petting zoos offer a variety of packages, one of which is sure to suit your needs. Various packages include a two-hour reservation, with tables, utencils, and food, as well as food to feed that animals, and some even include pony rides! If your event is too large, however, and you couldn't possibly transport all of the guests to your residence, many petting zoos will bring the petting zoo to you. What better way to hold a school field day or a child's birthday party than to bring a bunch of adorable animals out of the petting zoo and into everyones' hearts? We certainly can't think of any.

When interacting with the animals at petting zoos, however, it is important to review and be conscientious of the petting zoo's policies and safety regulations, not to mention the general well-being of the animals. Remember, these animals are mostly fairly young. They are still learning how to interact with human beings themselves, so if you, or one of your party members are abusive to them, it could traumatize them for life and cause them to be unfriendly to humans. And if that happens it will force the petting zoo to remove them from the zoo, thus removing them from their families. Don't be that guy!

Planning a petting zoo might be one of the most memorable things you do this year, and you will want to continue to go back over and over again. You won't regret it!
